Aeros reliever Scott Roehl was named to the Eastern League Southern Division All-Star team and third baseman Wes Hodges was added to the roster for the XM Satellite Radio Futures Game, the team announced today.

The best team in the Eastern League will send four players to this year’s All-Star Game, as Aeros infielders Wes Hodges and Josh Rodriguez and relief pitchers Randy Newsom and J.D. Martin were all named to the Southern Division All-Star team today. The Southern Division and Northern Division will square off in Manchester, NH July 16th, and manager Mike Sarbaugh and the rest of the Aeros coaching staff will lead the Southern squad as the defending Southern Division champions.

Aeros outfielder Trevor Crowe was named Bank of America Eastern League Player of the Week today for the week ending June 29th. It is the second consecutive week Akron’s leadoff hitter has received the award, and it is the third straight week an Aero has claimed the honor as third baseman Wes Hodges won it for the week ending June 15th. RHP Randy Newsom and LHP David Huff have also won weekly awards for the Aeros this season.
