Each month the Akron Aeros staff assists in our community as part of our Helping Hands program. Some of the work that we have done in the community thus far:
- November 1-24, 2010: Akron Aeros Thanksgiving Grand Slam Food Drive benefitting Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank- The Aeros collected and donated a sizeable amount of food goods for the food bank.
- November 11, 2010: The staff helped serve 45 free meals as part of a weekly program in this neighborhood to assist those in need.
- December 15, 2010: Adopt-A-Family- Partnering with the United Way and Summit County Children Services, the Aeros received holiday wish lists for eight children. Front office members traveled to area stores and, through personal donations and generosity, worked to fulfill all of the children’s holiday wishes. The staff returned from their shopping trip and wrapped the gifts for each child. Orbit, the Akron Aeros mascot, helped to deliver the presents to the offices of Summit County Children Services.
- January 20, 2011: Haven of Rest The Akron Aeros front office staff volunteered at the Haven of Rest Ministries on E. Market Street in Akron. The staff helped in many ways including assisting in food preparation and cleaning and maintenance. Staff members also wrapped gifts for the ministries’ Happy Birthday Jesus event next December.
- February 17, 2011: The Akron Aeros front office staff volunteered at the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. The staff packed 108 cases of pasta (2160 pounds of pasta)!.
- The Akron Aeros front office has pledged to volunteer their time each month and partner with local charities to give back to the community.
